YGF Malatang 杨国福麻辣烫 is a casual Chinese eatery in Chino Hills specializing in customizable Malatang—a Sichuan-style hot pot served as a spicy, numbing broth filled with your choice of fresh ingredients. Located on Grand Ave, it draws in locals looking for a quick yet hearty meal that can dial up spice levels to personal taste, making it ideal for fans of bold, warming flavors.

The setup encourages a hands-on dining experience: diners pick from a broad selection of meats, vegetables, noodles, and tofu, then select their broth base. Options range from a rich beef bone broth and tangy sour tomato to the classic mala spice that brings an addictive kick. For those who want extra flavor layers, small sides like garlic puree, chopped green onion, and sesame sauce are available to customize each bowl further.

The atmosphere feels straightforward and fast-casual with clean, simple décor and efficient service designed to get you in and out without fuss. It’s a practical stop whether craving something comforting after work or looking for a communal meal among friends who like to mix and match tastes. Portions come by weight, allowing some control over quantity, though some guests have found the pricing a bit steep when ordering larger servings.

Beyond the signature Malatang, YGF Malatang also offers a handful of other dishes like lamb skewers and Asian soups including Tom Yum and Sukiyaki, adding variety for those who want to explore flavors beyond the hot pot. The dessert options—ranging from coconut lava balls to sweet pumpkin cakes—provide a softer ending to a spicy meal.

This spot suits those who appreciate fresh ingredients and a highly personalized meal experience in a no-frills environment. It’s particularly well-loved by people missing the vibrant soup stalls of bigger Chinese cities, as the fresh produce and broth bases evoke familiar tastes but with a Southern California twist on casual dining.

Best times to visit are during lunch or early dinner hours to avoid the dinner rush, especially on weekends. Service is friendly and brisk, fitting for a lunchtime break or a quick dinner with friends who share a taste for spice and noodles.

Absolutely love Yang Guo Fu Malatang! The ingredients are super fresh, with a great variety of vegetables, meats, and noodles to choose from. The broth is rich, flavorful, and perfectly customizable—from mild to extra spicy. Everything is cooked just right, and the portions are generous for the price. The restaurant is clean, and the staff are friendly and efficient. This is my go-to spot whenever I’m craving something warm, comforting, and delicious. Highly recommend!

Clean establishment, reasonably priced, and FRESH ingredients! I come here when I’m missing my time living in Shanghai. The soup bases are delicious and I highly recommend the medium spicy beef bone broth if you can handle a bit of heat. And if you’re don’t have a big appetite, sharing one bowl should be enough, or you can just have a ton of leftovers!

YGF Malatang offers an addictive, customizable Sichuan malatang experience that’s perfect for spice enthusiasts. Select from dozens of fresh ingredients—meats, veggies, noodles, and tofu—then choose your broth (iconic numbing-spicy mala, rich bone, or mild tomato). The result? A steaming, personalized bowl bursting with authentic flavor and aroma. Fast-casual vibe, affordable pricing by weight, and a fun sauce bar make it ideal for quick, satisfying meals. highly addictive!

First time eating at a YGF Malatang! Heard great things about it and was pretty excited to try. You get to choose your own toppings, broth, and complimentary sauces. The Malatang itself was flavorful (definitely lowering the spice level next time), and the atmosphere was pretty nice. However, the portion/weight felt a little off for $20+.

Absolutely amazing! The broth is rich, bold, and perfectly spicy with a deep, savory flavor that hits just right. Every ingredient is fresh and generously portioned, soaking up all the delicious seasoning. You can really tell a lot of care went into this dish. Spicy but well-balanced — I couldn’t stop eating. Definitely coming back for this again!

Honestly, I'm always in the mood for hotpot, but not always ready to drop $35 on it. Sometimes, I'm just craving my favorite ingredients in a comforting, flavorful soup. That's when I head to YGF. I've brought my family here several times, and we always leave feeling totally satisfied. They offer a great selection of proteins, noodles, veggies, and all the sauces you'd want to customize your perfect malatang. Once you’ve loaded up your bowl, they cook it for you in your choice of broth: bone broth, tomato, or even as a stir-fry! I also really appreciate that you can pack up your leftovers to go. It's a great value, delicious, and always hits the spot. We’ll definitely keep coming back!
